Common questions
Is there an entry fee for the Ho Chi Minh Trail?
No, the road itself is free to ride and the Eight Ladies Cave memorial is also free, donations welcome. You'll just pay for petrol (around $1, 25,000 VND/litre, prices checked June 2026) and whatever you eat along the way. Most people fold it into a motorbike loop.
How long does the Ho Chi Minh Trail loop take?
A half day is realistic for the western branch through the park out to Eight Ladies Cave and back, around 80-100km round trip. Add an extra hour or two if you stop at the war memorials, viewpoints and a roadside lunch. Leave early so you ride back in daylight.
Can you do the Ho Chi Minh Trail without a motorbike?
Yes, plenty of operators run jeep and minivan tours that cover the highlights with a guide who explains the wartime history. It's the better option if you don't ride, since the road is long and exposed. Expect around $40-60 (1,000,000-1,500,000 VND) for a group day tour.
